IdeasProject IdeasThis page contains ideas for projects related to OpenGraphics?, but not mission critical at the moment. This makes the projects and ideas found here suitable for people that wants to be introduced to the project without having much experience in hardware design, Verilog or low level programming. HIDE Prototype. In order to allow rapid development of hardware, an IDE is needed. HIDE will provide a drag and interface to allow hardware developers to perform their most regular tasks. This involves creating new modules, optionally using templates and finally connecting them. Thus having a prototype GUI which we later can extend would be of great value to the project. A more detailed list can be found here: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.graphics.opengraphics/8234 HDL Parser library.A lot of the supporting tools could use a parser library for the HDL. This library should as input take either Verilog or VHDL code and generate a graph of the modules as output. Extend an emulator with support for OGA.It could be useful to extend BOCHS / QEmu / emulator, to have support for our GPU simulator. This project would evaluate the different emulators out there and propose / implement a interface for our OGA. The point of the exercise is to have a platform for development of VGA Bios and drivers without having the card itself. Timing diagram editorA program to edit timing diagrams. There already exists a program called DrawTiming, which can convert a textual description of a timing diagram to an image file. This project would be about an intuitive graphical front-end to create and edit files in the same format. The UI requirements are nicely summed up in http://lists.duskglow.com/open-graphics/2007-April/009652.html. VGA CoreThe OGA is currently planned to support the legacy VGA interface by using a generic micro controller. However, as a project we're interested in exploring the possibility of having a dedicated hardware module for handling VGA. The goal of this project would be to implement a VGA core using Verilog in order to explore the design space. Other ideas. If you have other ideas that could in some way could interest OGP, please send a mail to our mailing list, and we'll gladly discuss it.
